One of the most critically reviled television shows in history was also the biggest hit ever seen. The show lasted for nine seasons, getting canceled only because CBS wanted to eliminate its rural themed programming. While the show's ratings weren't as high as they had been they were still higher than other more urban shows that had gotten canceled.
