Marty Allen, 1922 - 2018

Marty Allen, the legendary comedian and one half of the famed comedy team Allen & Rossi has passed away at age 95.

Together with his comedy partner Steve Rossi, Marty Allen brought laughs to television as one of Ed Sullivan’s favorite comedy acts. Mr. Allen’s act was so favored by Ed Sullivan that they were given a slot on one of the biggest live broadcasts in the history of television- the U.S. television debut of The Beatles.

After breaking up with Mr. Rossi, Mr. Allen continued to book roles both comedic and serious on television. A mainstay of panel game and variety shows in the 1970’s, Marty Allen continued to tour the world, this time with his wife, before settling down in the 1980’s. In recent years, Marty Allen still kept performing, staying close to home in Las Vegas. One of the last ties to television’s early years, Mr. Allen became a favorite of nostalgia programming, often sharing his showbiz stories with audiences both young and old.

Rose Marie, 1923 - 2017

The lovely and talented Rose Marie has passed away at age 94. Ms. Marie was best known for her role as writer Sally Rogers on The Dick Van Dyke Show. A role model for strong women in the workplace long before it became common, Rose Marie was a trailblazer who inspired generations of women to enter the workforce and pursue their dream careers. In real life, Ms. Marie was just as feisty and funny as her television alter ego. Like Sally, she shattered any barrier- glass or otherwise- that stood in her way. Sadly, they don’t make ‘em like Rose Marie anymore and we’ve lost another legend.

“It's wonderful to know that I made so many of you laugh, but what tops it all and is so rewarding is knowing I was part of so many of you believing that if I could do it, or if Sally could do it, you could do it too! Believe in your talent and do good work, it can take you far.”

Rest In Peace, Barbara Hale

Barbara Hale, who was best known as Perry Mason's secretary Della Street, has passed away at age 94. Ms. Hale starred alongside Raymond Burr in both the classic drama on CBS and the 1980's NBC movie series as the loyal assistant who helped Perry Mason piece together the clues needed to clear his clients. In the NBC reunion film Perry Mason Returns, her character found herself accused of a crime she didn't commit, assisted by the loyal Mason who left a judgeship to clear her name. The film afforded her the opportunity to work with her son, William Katt, who portrayed Mason's new detective. While she starred in many films as an RKO contract actress, she will be forever known and beloved as the kindly Della Street.
